Then, settle back in your comfortable motor coach for a ride through the Main River Valley and into the heart of the Franconian Wine Region on the way to Nuremberg. After checkin, freshen up and relax a bit before the "Welcome/Get Acquainted" dinner at the hotel. (Dinner) | | Day 3 | Rothenburg | GERMANY . . Nuremberg - Rothenburg. This morning experience the history and charm of Nuremberg as you transfer into the city center for an introductory bus tour and time for individual pursuits. Hitler staged his propaganda rallies here, and after his fall, Nuremberg was chosen as the site of the famous War Trials. For further information, visit the Dokumentation Center at the sight of the Nazi Party Rally Grounds (6 admission fee). If you prefer a lighter topic, enter the Toy Museum (5 admission fee), celebrating Nuremberg's tradition as the "city of toys". Spend the afternoon in the enchanting, medieval village of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. You will feel as if you are walking into a fairy tale when you see the well preserved walls, cobblestone streets, historic inns, and quaint store fronts. Return to your hotel for an authentic German dinner. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 4 | Fieberbrunn | GERMANY . . Munich - Fieberbrunn. Travel to the Bavarian capital of Munich for a panoramic city tour, including views of the Olympic Village, the Bohemian district of Schwabing, and the Konigsplatz. Enjoy free time in the pedestrian-only "old town" where modern department stores have been skillfully grafted amidst the old city gates and historic buildings. For your independent lunch you may consider the world's most famous beer hall, the "Hofbrauhaus", where you can celebrate Oktoberfest year-round. Departing Munich, cross the border into Austria. As you drive through the PillerseeTal, a valley in northeast Tyrol, immerse yourself in the beautiful Alpine views with mountain-fed rivers, flower-laden meadows, and lovely resort towns. Arrive in the mountain village of Fieberbrunn and enjoy the Tyrolean hospitality over dinner at the hotel. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 5 | Fieberbrunn | AUSTRIA . . Fieberbrunn in the Tyrolean Alps. The day is at your leisure. If you enjoy walking, hiking or biking, this is your chance. There are mountain paths all around. Or, simply relax amidst the boundless majesty of the imposing Alps. If your interests are culture and history, consider joining the optional "Salzburg & Eagle's Nest with Dinner" excursion. (Breakfast) | | Day 6 | Innsbruck | AUSTRIA . . Kitzbuhl -Innsbruck -Alpine Resort. Stop to admire the brightly colored buildings of Kitzbuhl. Then, follow the Inn River upstream to Tyrol's principal town and capital, Innsbruck (Inn bridge). This imperial city is known for its Golden Roof, built in 1500 with 1399 gilded tiles as a royal box to view entertainment in the square below. You will have time to lunch in one of the outdoor cafes and to explore the old city center with the Maria Theresien Boulevard, Triumphal Gate, and exquisite Imperial Church. Following dinner at your Alpine Resort hotel, you may wish to end your evening with a glass of Austrian wine or a relaxing walk. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 7 | Innsbruck | Austria . . Innsbruck - Alpine Resort Indulge yourself with a leisurely day in beautiful Innsbruck . . . take a cable car ride into the mountains, visit the Alpine Zoo, check out the Olympic Ski Jump, or join the optional "Bavarian Palace" excursion. Return to your cozy, Tyrolean hotel for a dinner of Wiener Schnitzel and Apple Strudel. For an evening filled with music and dancing, join tonight's optional "Tyrolean Show & Dinner " excursion. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 8 | Swiss Lake District | LIECHTENSTEIN . . Vaduz & SWITZERLAND . . Swiss Lake District. This morning features more of the natural beauty of the Austrian Alps. Feast your eyes on the majestic mountains all around you. Depending on the weather and road conditions, travel via the breathtaking Silvretta High Alpine Pass or through the engineering masterpiece of the Arlberg Tunnel. Either way, the destination is the enchanting, tiny principality of Liechtenstein, an independent state wedged between Austria and Switzerland, with a leisurely visit to its capital, Vaduz. High atop a mountain hill sits Vaduz Castle, residence of the ruling Prince of Liechtenstein. For souvenirs of your visit, you may purchase postage stamps of Liechtenstein as well as have your passport stamped at the Vaduz post office. From Vaduz, cross the border into Switzerland, and travel into the Swiss Lake District. Dine at your hotel, where you will spend the next two nights amidst a setting of mountains and lakes. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 9 | Swiss Lake District | SWITZERLAND . . Lucerne -Swiss Lake District. Begin the day with a stop in the old village of Stans, at the foot of the mountains. Bring your camera if you decide to take the optional "Swiss Mountain" excursion, during which you will enjoy some of the most incredible alpine vistas. Continue along the lake to Lucerne, where you will have a full afternoon to explore its covered bridges and many other special treasures. Venture out for dinner on your own or join the "Swiss Lake Boat Ride & Dinner" optional. (Breakfast) | | Day 10 | Breitnau in the Black Forest | SWITZERLAND . . Schaffhausen Rhine Falls & GERMANY . . Breitnau in the Black Forest. After a nice Swiss breakfast, travel north to see the impressive and powerful Rhine River Falls, Europe's largest, near the town of Schaffhausen. Your journey will then take you back into Germany to visit the renowned Black Forest region. A mid-afternoon arrival in Titisee allows for a stroll through this lovely village before checking in at your hotel in nearby Breitnau. While your luggage is placed at your room, you are treated to a short explanation of the history and handiwork behind the area's famous cuckoo clocks. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 11 | Breitnau in the Black Forest | GERMANY . . Breitnau in the Black Forest. This day has been reserved for a little rest and relaxation, walking, hiking, or other individual pursuits. The Black Forest is the perfect place to escape from modern life's hectic pace, traffic noise, and mega malls. Drink in the natural beauty of this pristine resort town and dream the day away in the fairy tale village of Titisee. Or, perhaps you will wish to join the optional "France's Wine Road with Dinner" excursion which includes a wine tasting and explanation at a vineyard in France. . (Breakfast) | | Day 12 | Rudesheim | GERMANY . . Heidelberg - Rudesheim Travel through the northern part of the Black Forest and reach historic Heidelberg in time for an independent lunch. Idyllically situated in the Neckar Valley, Heidelberg is famous for its university and immortalized in the operetta "The Student Prince". Visit the ruins of Heidelberg's red sandstone Castle and walk through the old town before heading 60 miles north to your hotel in Rudesheim, conveniently located near Frankfurt Airport for your last two nights of the tour. Although you still have one day of leisurely sightseeing ahead of you, tonight's farewell dinner is a fitting time to celebrate the highlights of your journey through Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 13 | Rudesheim | GERMANY . . Rudesheim. Rudesheim's location in the center of the famous Rhine Wine culture has contributed to the town's festive appearance and lifestyle. Sometime today, you'll want to take a walk on the promenade along the Rhine River. You may also wish to join the optional "Rhine Cruise & Cable Car" excursion. (Breakfast, Dinner) | | Day 14 | Daytime flight back to the U.S.A | Daytime flight back to the U.S.A Transfer to the Frankfurt Airport for the return flight home. (Breakfast) |
